Suzanne’s Story

Site created on December 14, 2020

Welcome to Suz's Caring Bridge page. When John Jr. invited me to help write this page, I really didn't know - maybe still don't - the right words to put down. Words are completely insufficient at this point to express my love and gratitude for Suz Colbeth who is, in my opinion, one of the most selfless people ever to walk the planet and to whom I not just gratitude to for my birth, for giving me an incredible life. I'm one of those fortunate people who not only got adopted by incredibly wonderful people, but I have also have the fortunate experience of being able to share that luck and loving family with Suz right along as part of it. It is for that reason, much like those reading this, devastated that her current condition leaves us all feeling like we may be robbed of her presence far too soon.

Many of you are likely aware that Suz ended her chemotherapy treatments a few weeks ago and opted to go into the care of hospice. Despite our hopes that her life would continue for months, her providers have indicated that the progress of her decline is much faster and that we may have only weeks instead. Being an out-of-state daughter, in the time of a pandemic and during the holidays, has put me in an unfortunate position where I can send love, light, peace and good wishes but not ACTUAL access which leaves me to say this.  You are reading this because you are one of the many angels in Suz's life. I know she has touched your heart with her generosity, her love, and her kindness. This is the time that she needs it back - but she will never ask for it. Despite my encouragement to her to be unapologetically selfish, she's just not built that way so PLEASE...pour it all on her. Please also pour it on her husband, and on her two amazing boys. We need you and all of your support. Thank you so much for reading this and I will continue to update this page as the days go forward.

To you, love and light and peace.

Sincerely - Lee Ann Ferguson

Journal entry by John Colbeth

My loving caring beautiful mother  took her last breaths at 9:20am. Surrounded by myself (John), Tony and our father holding her hand telling her we love her. She is at peace and showered with love. Rest easy mommy.
