Journal entry by Susan Joy

Hello All - Susie here!!

What a great day. My vitals and labs were stellar and my doctor moved forward with my chemo treatment. I was hopeful it would be my last and ......... it was!

To back up a bit:

My Sep. 24 extensive surgery was very successful. The remaining ovary, the tumor, the bowel section it was attached to and several fatty pads were removed. The doctor did not find anything further that looked suspicious and all my subsequent scans came back clean. My recovery at 7 weeks has been very comfortable. I had a few pain meds within the first 48 hours but after that just a bit of discomfort. My greatest challenge is doing nothing and resting as needed!

I had my first post-op infusion on Oct. 28 which was a week delayed due to my Dad's passing on Oct. 17. We celebrated his 92 years of a life well-lived.

Part of the lab work that follows a week after treatment is the measurement of my tumor marker. When I was diagnosed in mid-March, my number was over 700 - not good. Fortunately after each infusion it continued to slowly decrease. When it was measured pre-surgery it was 31 - much, much better. When it was measured 2 weeks ago it was -14, yes, negative 14. It doesn't get any better than that.

So here I am today, with Kevin right at my side. I am feeling strong, healthy and ready for 2020. I will never be able to thank you enough for all of your support. I so appreciate the many meals, cards, gifts and especially your constant thoughts and prayers.

Keep me close to the top of your prayer list during my year-long Avastin maintenance. This is a 30 minute, preventative infusion every 3 weeks which will begin in Dec.

Once again, thank you. And much love.
