Susan’s Story

Site created on March 25, 2018

As some of you already know, this year I actually received a very unexpected birthday gift. I was diagnosed with a rare cancer, cholangiocarcinoma or bile duct cancer.

We created this site to update anyone interested in our journey.

Thank you so much for your prayers and encouraging words. Your support means more than you know.

Journal entry by Robert Neely

Susan was discharged yesterday finally after 3 weeks in the hospital. I regret not being there to push her out and see the champ make her triumphant exit. She leaves with no real issues other than a small amount of fluid in her abdomen that should dissipate with time. She still has some minor pain and feels weak but that is to be expected. She is exactly where she needs to be resting at her mom’s in St Louis 10 minutes from the hospital. She gets her staples removed on the 19th and we are hoping she can come home to Texas on the 20th. She has gone through so much in the last month and has been strong and resilient 99% of the time. The road of recovery will be long but we are poised and ready to respond in every way. The kids and I are in Texas and rolling along. Everyone has been so great providing meals and support. My sub optimal Mr Mom skills are thankful for that as it just makes things that much easier on us. We continue to be grateful, joyful and thankful for everyone and everything.
