Susan’s Story

Site created on December 25, 2020

Gene, Susan's husband was diagnosed with Covid 19 on December 8th. he was blessed to only have mild symptoms and was feeling better within a few days. Susan was diagnosed on December 10th, she was not so fortunate. With each passing day, she got a little worst and her oxygen level was slowly decreasing. She ended up in the hospital at OLOL for one night because she felt so bad and her breathing was a little labored. OLOL sent her home the next morning on oxygen and we watched her closely for about 2 days. Early Monday morning, December 21st, Susan was rushed by ambulance to BRGH and has been in the ICU ever since.

This past 36 hours has been a flood of different emotions. I certainly realize that is normal. We have spent the better part of these 2 days trying to honor Susans wishes and also plan a Service for her that exemplified the Susan we all knew and the life she led.

We completely understand that some of you may not feel comfortable being amongst other people at the Funeral Home. I did want to let you know that masks will be required and we will all do our best to social distance. Rabenhorst has asked that we not "congregate". Just another thing that Covid has taken away from us. I keep repeating to myself...I will not be angry, I will not be angry...

Susan's Obituary will run in the Sunday paper. Many of you have asked about a Charity to make a donation to.  We all felt like her Church would be most appropriate . I'm quite sad we couldn't do the funeral there...I will not be angry, I will not be angry!

Hoping to see many of you on Monday and be able to put a face to the many names that have shown up here on Caringbridge.

Please remember Gene in your prayers. He is struggling and is having a hard time imagining his life without Susan in it.

God is Great!
Love,
Jamie
