Susan’s Story

Site created on March 18, 2019

Susan is the mom of three amazing girls. Her and Tod have been married for almost 19 years. On March 5th of 2019, everyday life was interrupted with the news that she had breast cancer. This site is the story of the journey that Susan and her family are on. We are grateful for the love, prayers, and support from friends and family. We will be using this CaringBridge site to keep you updated on the latest news and the current needs of the family.  Please click the Ways To Help tab to find the links to help with a meal for the family and for financial support. Newest Update

Journal entry by Susan Godlewski

Posting a long overdue update. Life for us the past few months has been good. We celebrated holidays together with friends and family. My health has been improving more each day. I’ve been able to lose some weight that I gained through chemo, my hair is growing and my energy is slowly returning.
At this point in my journey I am having hormone therapy every 3 weeks. That is given at the infusion clinic, the same way chemo is administered but without the side effects. This treatment will end the first of April. I am also now receiving an injection every 4 weeks for hormones. This along with Tamoxifen will be used for 5 years as long as I am able to handle the side effects of that shot.
I am at the point of having my last reconstruction surgery. This is scheduled for Monday, February 10th at 6am!!! 😳 I am not an early bird so should be interesting lol. This surgery will be to remove the expanders and place in the implants. The surgery itself should be around 1 1/2 hours. I had many complications with the last surgery so they are requesting I stay overnight BUT if all goes well I will be able to go home on the day of surgery. I shouldn’t be in as much pain with this surgery. I will be on restrictions for 4 weeks which is basically no lifting of ANYTHING! (Told not to even put a dish in the dishwasher) I’m sure I will get a little stir crazy during this time especially if I’m feeling good.
I will go the following week after surgery for appointments with my chemo doctor to go over the final plan of the hormone therapy treatment. My post op will also be that week. My 6 month checkup with my oncologist is in March. I can’t believe I’m at the 6mth mark already. God is good...All the time!
I am adding some pictures of some highlights that have happened over the past few months.

Thank you all for the continued love, prayers and text. I am so thankful that I am not on this journey alone. Please keep me in prayer on Monday as I have surgery. Love you all ❤️ #GODlewskistrong
