Hello Everyone,
Next Saturday we are creating our Celebration of Raquel's Life together. We look forward to honoring our Starr.
We have a few reminders and requests. It looks like it's going to be a hot day. If anyone has an EZup, we might need a few. A few more tables could be useful as well. Also don't forget a chair. We have some chairs, but 100 people are expected.
Our driveway is 1/4 mile long. Look for balloons and a small metal pot of sunflowers off Hunnell Road to find our address. Look for parking along our driveway and along Hunnell Road, once parking is taken off the driveway. Also our neighbors have kindly offered parking in the gravel area just after our shared driveway splits to the right, past their gate. Please do not drive past that gravel area, even to turn around. They have very small children that could be outside. There is limited parking at our home because we need the paved areas for the ceremony. However if someone needs to be dropped off, please come up the driveway to the house. Carpooling is advised.
The ceremony will start around 5:30ish. There will be a community built ancestor altar for Raquel for which you may bring items. You will take these home with you.
If you have a drum, rattle, shaker, or extras, please bring these. Would anyone like to begin the drumming circle? Someone with a bass drum? A djumbe, even?
We also need a few volunteers to clear those wishing to be cleared/ smudged with mist or clearing plants.
Another way to be a part of the ceremony is to offer to call in an element: air, fire, water and earth for the tradition of our sisterhood when we open the ceremony.
Lastly, remember this is a potluck. If you are able, please bring something to share. We don't have many signed up for main dishes and we need to know how many lasagnas to pick up. If you haven't already signed up through the evite under "what to bring", or told us what you are bringing, please do so. You can text me (number at bottom). Extra water and beverages are welcome too.
We are making this a beautiful ceremony within our community- a community ceremony and I believe Raquel loves it this way. That's why she wove us together.
We look forward to celebrating Raquel- our Starr.
With gratitude and love,
Valmarie
