Newest Update

Journal entry by Stacy Swenson

Hi all!  Carrie & I are very happy to tell you that Susan (mom) has been moved into a new apartment at the Orchards of Minnetonka off 394 & Hopkins Crossroad!  It is both an independent & assisted living apartment complex, build just 5 years ago.  There she will have daily assistance & the therapy she still needs, but with her own stuff & much more independence than she's had since early January.

She can have visitors!  You can call her cell phone & if she doesn't answer, she will call you back.  Her eye sight still isn't great for seeing up close, so I would limit texts & emails as Carrie & I are still reading most of those for her.  Sue can also now be taken places, however she'll need a ride & to check out at the front desk.  If you do visit or decide to take her out, please know she'll need her walker at all times :)  She also has a wheel chair (thanks Uncle Ron!) if there's any need to take her far distances, but should not be necessary in most cases.

We left much of her stuff at her home in Bloomington, we want to see how this apartment living goes before deciding what to do there.  I wanted to share that as I'm sure it'll come up in some conversations with Sue.  She really loves her home of 51 years(!), but it may be too much to care for & be alone now at this stage given her health, but we will see how the next several weeks/months go & Sue will be a part of that decision as she has been all along the way.

She's been doing better every day the past week or so.  We are confident that it will continue as she gains more independence & continues with therapy.  THANK YOU all again for the many visits, calls, texts, help, care & concern for her these past 2 months!  We could not have done this without you.  She always wants to share with us who's contacted her, who has visited with her...she really thrives on the personal contact with you, so keep it coming!

If any questions at all, please don't hesitate to reach out to one of us.  I know we haven't posted many updates here, we tend to only post when there has been a significant change or update as it's been incredibly busy every day, but we hope that will ease up now & she will thrive in this new place!

Hugs to you all,

Stacy & Carrie
