Journal

As I sit in the waiting room while Rich gets his new hip installed, I thought I should leverage this time to post an update on my own journey. How can it be more than three months since my last chemo infusion?!

Radiation was a breeze - started late October and finished the first week of November. Just three quick rounds, and nothing in comparison to the chemo. It was an interesting process, with my radiation oncologist and a physicist working together to assure the radiation was hitting the target. Lots of measuring involved.
I am scheduled for an exam with the radiation oncologist in early February.

I had a CT scan in early December - in preparation for my first checkup with my regular oncologist. My first appointment went pretty well. Most of my labs looked decent - with my blood counts getting closer to normal. They did find two spots on the scan that we will have to monitor. I have a very small lesion in the upper lobe of my right lung. (Who knew lungs had lobes...haha.) There is a slightly larger area bumping up against my bladder that could very well be fluid resulting from the surgery. I just have to pay attention to any health changes until my next visit. I am scheduled for another CT scan in early March. Because I am classified as high risk, I’ll be on a three month recheck plan for the next two years, then on to simi-annual visits for the remaining three.

I’m not worried. I’m not letting this rule our lives. We’ll just see what the next scan shows, right?!

I’m enjoying this next phase - a little adventure. I’m getting my hair back - and I am loving my new hairstyle. Me thinks my hair won’t be blonde...looking salt and pepper so far. I don’t mind. Will I have a little waive too? We’ll see!

I have eyebrows and eye lashes. No more false eyelashes 🤣🤣🤣

I had to continually remind myself that my body went through a lot past year and it has taken a while to bounce back. I actually ran one mile on the treadmill this weekend - nonstop. My muscles are saying hello again. Can’t wait to be able to run a few more and get back in shape!

I will post a more timely update following my next recheck (or surveillance as it is technically referred to). I am keeping my positive attitude- that’s just how I like it 😎.

Now, back to waiting for Rich...
