News flash, news flash! My dear prayer warriors - On Monday, I had an appointment with Dr. Rudin, the thoracic oncologist I've seen at Memorial Sloan Kettering. He came in happy and smiling to tell me that he and his team felt that there was no reason to do any biopsies on my lungs or thoracic area as they felt I was definitely cancer free right now!

They are recommending regular scans every 10-12 weeks to see if the immunotherapy I received (Keytruda) is still boosting my immune system to keep the cancer from my body. He told me that he has had some patients who have been off Keytruda for well over a year and are still cancer free, and that the latest seminars he has attended have been very encouraging for non-small cell lung cancer, which is what I have.

Needless to say, we are very pleased with this information and want to thank you all, my prayer warriors, for remembering me with your prayers, calls, cards, emails, uplifting and spiritual books, and wonderful angels, which are always by my bedside.

I have gone through some difficult times. In December, one of my cardiologists told my children that they should be possibly thinking of hospice care. It seemed that the continued fluid build up from my heart and lungs was a real threat to my life. Either John, Jack or Julie were with me 24-7 during this critical time and our internist/medical quarterback, was in and out every day and getting great doctors to take care of any situation that arose.

We are staying with Julie and Jesse for a few more days and then heading to Bald Head Island to spend Labor Day week with our family at Julie and Jesse's beach home there. I have been up and down the stairs multiple times daily, have been walking a mile or two a day, and we even hope to go to the US Open next week!

I've attached a few photos of John and I at our grandson Bennett's college graduation in May or with Jack celebrating John's birthday last month. Thanks again for your continued prayers. What would I do without you?

Loads of love,
Sue
