Welcome to Sue (Firkus) Gilbertson’s CaringBridge website.  In August of 2020, Sue went to United Hospital as she was getting winded while going up and down stairs.  So with heart disease in her family, she thought it may be heart related.  After several tests, she was given the news that she has cancer.  Her actual diagnosis is, Acute Myeloid Leukemia with Myelodysplasia.  This disease attacks the bone marrow, making healthy cells unhealthy and for her to be healthy again she must have a bone marrow transplant, but to do so she must be cancer free.
