My friend Alison went online and did the first step, filling out the questionnaire. She wrote a little blurb about how easy the experience was. Here is what she said,
"I found it very simple to log on to the Mayo Clinic donor website and fill out the questionnaire to see if I was a match to be a living donor for Sarah Zwingman.The website first asked me if I wanted to donate to a patient and there was a place where I could select Sarah's name. From there, it asked me personal health history questions including current medications that I take as well as dosages. I believe you need to know your blood type as well. I recommend doing the questionnaire at home where you have access to any prescription bottles. The whole process took about 20 minutes or less. In about a week, I received an email letting me know that I was not a good candidate as a living donor for Sarah. They did not explain details why. Overall, the experience was quick and easy to do. The website also explains the process for what happens if you do come up as a potential match. It includes going to your doctor and getting a blood test and potentially going to the Mayo Clinic for more tests."
