Newest Update

Journal entry by Melissa French

Sorry it took us a bit to update. We drove through some nice storms and a tornado warning on our route home.

Stone saw the U of M Retina/eye specialist again yesterday to check if his eye was healed or cornea clear enough to perform our first surgery. Unfortunately, the cornea sometimes takes longer after trauma to display its damage and it was cloudier than last time. The doctor prescribed some new meds and ointment for every 2 hours while awake. He is hoping that will help some, however, with this news the doctor thinks Stone needs a corneal transplant sooner rather than later as thought.

Before the plan was to check the back of the eye and start w the retina, now we are going Cornea first in order for the doctor to be able to see what he is doing.

Then lens replacement, then retina and possibly ‘banding’ around the eye. We go back in two weeks to meet with the Cornea specialist and doctor again so they can plan procedure together both of the first surgeries at once if possible …. and if we have a live donor they are hoping first surgery a week or two after that consult.

There is nothing Stone can do differently. He asked. Just healing. Patience. And more prayers …. Aug 30 we go back again.
