Steve’s Story

Site created on October 25, 2023

Welcome. We wanted to have one place for people to come for updates on Steve's health. On October 17 Steve was diagnosed with melanoma of the eye. He will be having his left eye removed on Halloween. They will remove the iris and place an implant and an artist will design a contact that will match the other eye. Steve originally wanted the Seattle Kraken logo for that eye, so there was some marital negotiations in the retinal oncologist's office. The doctor mediated and suggested the logo under the lid. Steve has agreed to the iris. TBD on the logo. He will also be monitored for metastases by a medical oncologist. Steve is also planning a tattoo of an eye with wings and a halo designed by our youngest. His brother and sister are getting a matching one. Thank you for all the love and care. Steve is having a hard time seeing sometimes so won't always be able to read messages in a timely manner, but I will try to pass on your support.

Steve wanted to leave this site open, so I created another site to move forward more privately. If you know Steve outside of work, you are welcome to request access. Just go here https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/steveteixeiraprivate
