Steve’s Story

Site created on May 5, 2019

Steve Salazar is a man who has dedicated his life to loving Jesus, his wife and 5 small children, and others. On Friday, May 3 around 1am Steve was experiencing dizziness and vomiting. He and Sarah went to the hospital. He was examined, a CT scan was done, and he was released to go home. Over the next 30 hours his dizziness continued. Saturday morning at 9am Sarah could not wake him. He was rushed to the hospital. It was found that he had suffered strokes. Immediate action was taken. Sunday, May 5 they preformed brain surgery. It went well.
We are trusting God with Steve and praising Him for every moment. Please join us in praying for a miracle for Steve and for their family. We know it is Steve’s heart that the Lord be glorified in every part of this circumstance.

Blessings to you!

So we are officially moved. Praise the Lord. We had help packing from friends and family, and then on moving day we had 30+ people help us move. It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen! People were everywhere packing up the last things, moving things onto a 26’ moving truck that someone lent us 😳❤️, then while most people went to the new house to unload the truck, some people stayed behind and cleaned our old place, while others started unpacking boxes as they were unloaded! Furniture was set up, my kitchen was mostly unpacked, and someone even found bedding and made our bed! By the time the last people left our school room / office was mostly unpacked and organized, our kitchen was pretty functional, both bedrooms were functional and my washer was even installed! More wonderful blessings came the next day: my dryer didn’t fit, and my precious brother found me a used dryer that fit, picked it up and even took my old dryer away. Also, more friends and family have come over the last week to help unpack and organize our new house, and others to help clean our old place (even sweet friends who pressure washed our back patio and front stoop) for our final walkthrough. God has blessed us so thoroughly. Thank you to all of you who helped us with this move. You were the hands and feet of God to us this last 3 weeks in particular. Thank you!

In other news, Steve’s eyesight has gotten worse and so we are waiting for new lenses for his glasses to come. He has been experiencing more dizziness and some more nausea because of the eyesight changes. We are so thankful there are prism glasses that will help!

I took some pictures of our kids in the backyard digging in the dirt (that has made them so happy). There are also pictures of Silas who lost not one, but his first TWO teeth this week, and a shot of a beautiful tree outside our new house that was showing off it’s fall colors. ❤️  I thought I’d include them for you to enjoy as well. ❤️

Please pray Steve’s glasses come quickly and continue to pray for us as we navigate appointments and life. It is sometimes still hard for me to believe that things have changed so dramatically and aren’t going to go back to the way they were. This morning I was telling my kids that I want them to know and remember that God is good and that He has been providing for our needs, and will continue to do so. Please also pray for us as I continue to pursue sources of income as the Lord leads. Finally, please continue to pray for our kids’ hearts. They are struggling with some anger, lots of disobedience, and with lots of selfishness. I know the Lord wants us to disciple them and require more responsibility and respect, while encouraging tender, compassionate hearts that see needs and serve willingly. Please pray for us for wisdom as we walk this path.

“He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:5-9‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
