Journal entry by Cathy Peach —
Dear friends and family,
One year. It’s hard to believe that tomorrow it will have been a whole year. Thank you for your faithfulness to pray for our family as we’ve navigated a year of “First’s” missing Steve. We are grateful for you. People ask how they can help, and I can truly say that your prayers have sustained our family. The honest truth is that hard is hard and grief is real, yet the Holy Spirit continues to minister and uphold us in the hardest of moments.
I frequently watch Steve’s Celebration of Life service. Thank you again for those who helped make it possible, as well as those who attended and helped celebrate his life. I have put the link below if you would like to watch it. I find it’s a beautiful way to remember and celebrate his love, his faith and his life.
I’ve been comforted by Paul’s eternal perspective in 2 Corinthians chapters 3-5. I encourage you to read it. I love that Steve lived life fully and enjoyed his family, friends and the outdoors; yet, I LOVE that Steve had an eternal perspective. He knew this world wasn’t his home, and he fixed his eyes not on what is temporary but on the eternal. He knew eternity is real, and that faith in Jesus Christ is the most important thing in our lives. And ultimately, it was his faith in Jesus and his love for God's Word that beautifully transformed him little by little more into the image of Christ.
I miss Steve more than words can express, yet I’m comforted to know he’s in the presence of the One he loves. We celebrate Steve today and are so thankful for his life.
Thank you for walking this journey with us. Joy and sorrow are truly intertwined, yet we grieve with hope. Thank you again for loving us well!
Much love,
Cathy and the Peach family
