Steven’s Story

Site created on April 14, 2021

Steve started having symptoms of fever, shortness of breath, low oxygen levels, cough, and sore throat on March 27, 2021.  We went to Urgent Care where he was diagnosed with COVID-19.  We went home and did at home care for the next four days, but his symptoms continued to worsen.

On April 1, we returned to the clinic where they gave him a breathing treatment, which seemed to help some.  We were instructed to do those at home every few hours as needed.

On April 2, we returned again to the clinic with low oxygen levels.  They did a chest x-ray which showed pneumonia.

We continued to treat at home with worsening symptoms until April 5.  We went back to the clinic and they admitted him to the hospital in Buffalo.

On April 6, he was transferred by ambulance to the Billings Clinic Hospital in Billings, MT.  He was admitted to the ICU that same evening.

On April 9, he was put on a ventilator with sedation.

Journal entry by Kristin Rogers

This morning was so hard for both of us with many emotions and memories flooding our thoughts.   We prayed together before he went back to surgery and both vowed to trust God with the outcome.

It was only a little over 2 hours, but the doctor said everything went according to plan.  There was a risk of damage to the vocal chords, but his voice sounds awesome!   He's resting in the ICU for at least tonight, most likely tomorrow.   His color looks great, and his vitals are stable.   We are praising God for his hand and protection over Steve.

Thank you so much for all of the prayers and well wishes.  We will have a road to recovery, but we serve a mighty God, have amazing children, and we are in this together for the long haul.   We appreciate continued prayers for recovery and travels.  We will have to return to Denver a few times for follow-up appointments over the next few weeks.

"The Lord will stand with you and give you strength." - 2 Timothy 4:17
