Today was surgery day.  It was a very long day!  We got up early and drove to North Memorial.  He was admitted at about 11am for 2 hours of prep before surgery and then he had about a 2 hour surgery.  Two procedures were performed today.  They repaired his sinus region and his facial fractures.  It’s an extensive surgery.  He now has more plates and screws holding his face back together.  We waited until 6:30pm to get to see him.  He was groggy and in a bit of pain but overall looked good.  According to the surgeon, the surgery went well.  Due to the multitude of fracture on the right side, they were unable to plate that region.

It appears that he has now abandoned the plane idea and has decided to turn himself into iron man.

i was grateful to be able to see him today before leaving the hospital.  Tomorrow I have my flight back to Orlando.  Hard to leave him as he’s just recovering but duty calls.

He will be monitored over night for any bleeding and issues with his right eye due to the orbit fracture and surgery in that region.

I doubt he will remember saying goodbye today.  Hopefully he has a smooth recovery from this one.

This was a major step towards recovery but we have a few more stops along the way before this job is complete.  He has neurology and urology and multiple follow ups to get through.  Still a long road ahead!  Please continue to pray and keep us in your thoughts!  Tomorrow will be a hard day for all of us.  Saying goodbye is always hard especially under these circumstances.   But I will be leaving him in good hands heather and Mom will be looking out for him.

God is good!
