Great news about Steve’s health. He is going off hospice, possibly as early as next week. Dr. Miyake (Steve’s kidney doctor) thinks that Steve injured his kidneys in the fall on July 6th, which is why he had acute kidney failure and then was able to recover. The hospital never looked at his kidneys when they were examining his various broken bones. The hospice social worker and nurse will help us with the transition. All the hospital equipment (bed, wheelchair, etc.) will be returned. We will have to figure out how to reduce the 24/7 caregivers’ hours. Stay tuned….
