Dear friends, quite a bit of time has passed since Steve posted last.

Steve and Kristen asked if I would give a brief update about the last four months, so that everyone can follow and pray for them.

While it has not been an easy road, Steve’s most recent doctor reports on his lungs have been good! There are good days and some that are not so good, but overall he continues to make progress.

6 to 8 weeks ago, Steve made a trip to Kansas City, visited some friends and family and had another eye surgery which went well and seems to have helped his vision.

During the last 6 to 12 months, Kristen has had several health challenges also, adding some complications to their lives. It is never good when both partners are struggling with health issues!

The most recent challenge came about 12 days ago when Steve fell going in the house and had to e taken by helicopter to Anchorage. He broke his right hip and left leg! They fixed his hip Tuesday July 18 but they wouldn’t touch his leg fracture un a surgery yesterday. He went down very hard walking his granddaughter from the car to the house. Next week will likely be transferred to a rehab facility for an unknown period of time. Probably a few weeks. They say it will be 4-6 month recovery.

The pain and anesthesia has caused a great deal of confusion for Steve but it seems like today he has started to improve. The pain is down to what he would call a 3-4 and it had been at a 9 for many days between surgeries.

The prognosis is good but it will take a while for Steve to get “back on his feet” again.

Please pray for the Hickey family! If you are a ministry supporter I am sure they could use a boost financially if you can help. The have medical bills and car repairs outstanding. He is trying to seek his old white truck asap.
their son Caleb and family from here in KC had just arrived for a two week visit when Steve fell. With the exception of two days, he missed their visit entirely. More separation.

He is thankful for his second wind and yet bummed to be facing a second major ordeal. He is being considered for a larger role this fall in the department of Christian ministry at Alaska Christian College.

For Steve & Kristen,

More details coming in his ongoing complicated health situation. He has a collapsing trachea. Fixable with a stint. It’s called trachealbrocho  malaise.
