Hi friends and community of Steve and Melissa! I'm writing this journal entry on their behalf. Thank you for all the positive thoughts and well wishes! And thank you for understanding the difficulty in responding to messages quickly. Adjusting to this chapter is challenging, to say the least.

I am a friend of the family, sharing a message I posted to social media (with Melissa's permission). It can be hard to articulate needs at this point, so Jodi Anderson and I are coordinating donations for the DeAngelo family. We decided against a GoFundMe account, to simplify the process for Melissa (and to maximize the full amount). If you feel so inclined to donate, please read on!

Friends, it was just over a year ago that I reached out on behalf of Melissa and Steve DeAngelo, asking for help for a potentially lifesaving drug for Steve. Because of your generosity, Melissa and the boys have been able to enjoy a full year of hugs, smiles, laughter, travel, and time together. It is with incredible sadness that I let you all know that Steve is embarking on the final stages of his journey on this earth. He is now at home (from the hospital), where he will spend all of his time with Melissa, Rylan, and Shane.
 
A lot of people have been asking what they can do to help. Let's rally together and gather our funds to support Melissa with the things she should not have to worry about for the next several weeks/months: meal prep/food delivery, medical supplies, housekeeping, pet care, and perhaps most important, grief counseling, paperwork organization/planning via an end-of-life doula community. To donate:
 
  • Venmo Jodi Anderson (@jodi-anderson-04) or me (@annie-neudorfer) directly; Jodi and I will pool funds and distribute accordingly based on the family's needs and wishes (100% of the funds will go to Melissa); Melissa won't need to think beyond telling us what she needs-- we'll handle payments and coordination on her behalf as necessary.
