Journal entry by Kim Amshoff —
It has been a while since I have last updated everyone on Steve and the journey. In June Steve had a CT scan and we then met with the oncologist for the results, always a nerve wracking time. The blood work was all good and his scan showed things as being good, except for a thickening of his esophagus. The doctor wasn't too concerned, but wanted to have an endoscopy done to see what was going on. Then he suggested Steve have a colonoscopy as well. 😉 We made the appointment to see the Gastrologist and from there made the two scope appointments.
Today, November 29, 2023, he had them done. Everything went better than we expected. No CANCER the doctor said. I burst into tears as Steve lay sleeping. I did not realize the weight I was carrying about these scopes until the doctor came in to speak with me. This is great news for us as we can now celebrate something else.
When we first started this journey back in June 2018, the doctor said, "We are going for the cure". On November 26, 2018, Steve finished his last chemo infusion. It has now been 5 years and we can now say Steve is cancer free. What a milestone this is.
The next scan is in December.
Thank you for the continued prayers as we greatly appreciate them. 🙏
