Stephen’s Story

Site created on May 12, 2022

Steve (Tbubba) Trantham has been battling Heart Failure since March 2022. After a couple of hospital visits for heart issues, Steve was feeling better and was released on April 24th. On Saturday May 7th, he started to feel discomfort in his chest and was having difficulty breathing. The following morning on Monday May 9th, he had to be transported from Mexia to Clements Hospital in Dallas via Care Flight late. His heart output capacity had decreased significantly during those two weeks. In addition, his bloodwork was off the charts indicating liver and kidney failure. Later that evening, the team of doctors told the family that he was  'their sickest patient in ICU' and was in critical condition.
As of Tuesday May 10th, the doctors shared that some of his numbers had improved.  They lowered his sedation level to assess his ability to respond to simple commands like nodding his head, wiggling his toes, etc. and he was able to respond.  The doctors were pleased with this, as they feared that the high toxicity of the blood may have impaired this ability. Steve is still very ill...his kidney and liver function are big concerns to his medical team. One doctor used the analogy of a race of 100 hurdles to represent his journey to recovery. His progress the last two days represents 1-2 of the 100 hurdles.
Our family is thankful for:* A couple less hurdles to conquer than yesterday* A great team of caring Doctors who acknowledge that God is in control* Countless visits, calls, texts, etc.* Prayers, Prayers, Prayers* The Great Physician who hears and answers prayers
Thanks to the love and support you continue to show the Trantham family!
