Stephanie’s Story

Site created on May 1, 2023

Welcome to Stephanie Mihan Grant's CaringBridge website. We are using this site to keep family and friends updated in one place, as well a resource in how you can help. We appreciate your support and kind words of hope and encouragement on Stephanie's journey and fight with cancer.

Stephanie, 54, was born and raised in Princeton, New Jersey. As a graduate from Princeton High School in 1988,  Stephanie found her love for acting and modeling. She was an avid member in the Princeton Ballet Society, with prestigious roles such as the annual Nutcracker.  With academic honors and following her dreams in film and television, Stephanie attended the University of Southern California, where she earned her BFA in theatre from the USC School of Dramatic Arts. Continuing her education and love for design, Stephanie completed a degree at UCLA in Architecture and Interior Design. The combination of all these accomplishments led to set design roles on HGTV and Days of Our Lives, eventually pursuing a career in residential interior design in Los Angeles, California.  The combination of creative collaboration and personal connection with clientele, led Stephanie to recognize her life passion for mental health therapy and social work, eventually earning her a Masters in Mental Health Counseling. Today, Stephanie's continues her career as a Mental Health Counseling Assessment Coordinator in Georgia and South Carolina.  She takes great pride and thrives on helping local citizens, in crisis. Stephanie is known for her tenacity, humor, and determination of providing the best mental heath care for those in need.

In addition to all of these accomplishments, Stephanie is a single mom and proud mother of twins, Kai and Lola, 19. She has successfully raised both children completely on her own, while celebrating 18 years of sobriety. Both children graduated with honors, and attend Georgia College and State University, together in Milledgeville, Georgia. Kai and Lola are Stephanie's pride and joy!

On March 10, Stephanie was experiencing severe shoulder pain. After visiting the doctor, x-ray's reveal a broken clavicle, caused by a mass, outside the collarbone. Over the next several weeks additional testing was performed which included multiple biopsies, electromagnetic radiation bone scans, MRIs, x-rays, blood work, and much more. On April 24, Stephanie was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Stage 4 Metastatic Breast cancer that had spread from her breasts, to her lymph nodes, clavicle, elbow, and her spine. This is where Stephanie's journey and fight with cancer begins.

We appreciate you visiting her CaringBridge site and will continue to update you with Stephanie's journey as we learn more. We have provided links in the "Ways to Help" section, if you so choose, to a  Go Fund Me (https://gofund.me/674bc35a) to help with medical and other expenses. Thank you in advance as she and the children have a long road ahead of them, both mentally and financially.

With much love, hope, and kindness, always. Thank you.

Journal entry by K Ashley

Good morning everyone! ☀️

Tomorrow is Stephanie's birthday and our wish is to make it very special for her. So to honor Stephanie's journey with stage IV metastatic breast cancer, we would like for you to consider sending her a gift from an Amazon list a few of us friends have created. One of her favorite places is her porch, so it is our intent to make it a little more cozy as she sips her coffee and listens to the birds on a beautiful Southern Georgia spring day. We want her to be able to relax, enjoy, and feel loved. Please note that these gifts will be sent directly to Stephanie. If you feel we should add something, let us know.

Lastly, feel free to send her well wishes in the comments below. 💛

Please join us to celebrate Stephanie and another year around this beautiful planet. Happy birthday Steph! We love you!

As always, you are loved. ❤️
