Journal entry by Stephanie Lebsack —
It’s been a while since I have written on this site but it’s time to revive it as not everyone has Facebook.
Summer ‘22 has been tough. I got COVID-19 at the beginning of June for the first time (first time anyone on our family got it). Mary tested positive four days after I did with mild symptoms, and the boys never had any symptoms so we didn’t test- we just all isolated for two+ weeks. Covid symptoms still pop up for me if I overdo it (which is easy to do for me)- after talking to my physical therapist, this is a thing with some individuals who have long covid.
Speaking of PT, I am back in PT and the rehab team at NJH couldn’t believe how much progress I have made since they last saw me last year.
Fourth of July we went to a small gathering at a family’s house and the neighbors started popping fireworks and bottle rockets. At first there wasn’t much smoke but it became overwhelming and I didn’t get inside days enough- that was major flare # 1 for the summer. Flare #2- apparently my lungs don’t like hot weather. I got cleared to coach the girls team in cross country where he coaches. It was 108 en route driving to practice. Practice went well but my breathing wasn’t good within an hour of practice. This is now my third night up but last night I finally got medical attention and got to come home with an ED visit only hospitalization- we like those.
Take care and for those with kids going back to school or staff that’s already returned- best wishes!
Love and Hugs,
Steffi
