Stephanie’s Story

Site created on June 13, 2018

March 2021, we yet again were given the daunting news of cancer. Please continue to follow our journey with a new type of cancer this round.

On June 6th, 2018, my mom, Stephanie Fitts, heard the terrifying and nauseating words "you have breast cancer." Our family was completely blindsided by this diagnosis so it has taken us some time to digest. We are using this website to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Lauren Biggerstaff

Hello Everyone!

It has been a bit since I have updated so I figured, hmmm, why not today.

John greeted us in Texas this past Saturday and I flew out on Sunday. It was very hard for me to leave her this time but we are on the home stretch!!! Today is day 69 of 100. She is doing remarkable. I mean, I truly am speechless on the progress she has made. When I flew in at the beginning of October, I was worried, scared, sad, hopeless, all of the above. However, in the 37 days I had with her, she began to eat, drink more fluids, swallow all of her pills AND switch to Tuesday/Friday visits versus every day.

This past weekend, John and mom were able to visit San Antonio and that is where these lovely pictures are from. Her numbers are still fluctuating like crazy so she is still at high risk of catching an infection. Other than that, the doctors are happy with her progress and they might even release her at day 90 instead of 100!!!!!!

The last update we received regarding her bone marrow was that it is CLEAN and she is 100% the donor’s cells. I just got chills typing that out. How incredibly blessed are we? I just cannot believe it.

We do not know Gods plan, we never will, but it is certainly proving true that He has a plan for my mama. She has endured and accomplished so much and boy am I PROUD!!

Please keep the prayers coming as we can see the end in sight but still have not crossed the finish line. They say it takes a village and we are so very grateful to have each of you in ours.

God bless!

-Lauren
