Staci’s Story

Site created on September 11, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

In May of 2020, my mom was experiencing stomach pain. After a trip to her doctor and a CT scan, multiple tumors were found throughout her abdomen. In August of 2020, two biopsies were taken of masses in her abdomen, one of which being a liver mass that was 5cm in size. We have found out this week that she is and has been living with liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma).

The next steps include surgery and life long medications.

This is scary for all of us, but especially my mom. Any and all support you can shower her with would be appreciated.

Journal entry by Emily Gray

With the holiday season, I am taking the time to reflect and count my blessings. My mom's health is getting better and better every day. While her surgery took a major toll on her body, each day she is getting stronger and feeling more like herself.

Last week she had another set of scans and a recheck of her AFP (cancer marker). Her scans are clear, aside from a pesky kidney stone. Her AFP has continued to decrease! With this good news, my mom has started back at work and is keeping her normal schedule.

She even got her first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine!

I hope this holiday season brings you all blessings as well. In the Gray household, we are grateful for the time we get to spend together.
