So I am learning that recovery is not a nice, neat, linear process by any means. LOL. It is inherently a physical and emotional roller coaster. The past twelve hours illustrate that really well.

Here is the GREAT news: Stacey did not need to take any pain medication for the past ten hours. As a result, she is much more aware and "with us" this morning. Actual brief conversations about a variety of things. Great color coming back, some laughter, and even beautiful joy as her dear friend Brittney came by early today. Which led to a speaker phone call between the two of them and her best friend Erin - a call filled with laughter and worship.

But these things also inherently bring some things from the other end of the spectrum. Pain is coming back and they are about to treat that again. Greater clarity of thought has led to some tears and fears, many of them centered around expectations for the next few weeks, care for her boys, and what recovery is going to truly look like. All to be expected and all necessary steps on this journey.

Physical therapy is coming in a little while and will likely try to get her to at least stand and maybe take a few steps. That could lead to removal of her catheter and should lead to us moving out of ICU to the step-down floor. It will also challenge her some mentally, emotionally, and physically. But God has this!!!!! Oh my, let me tell you, no matter where you are or what you may be going through, our God is alive, our God is powerful, our God is a warrior, our God is worthy of all our praise!!!! Don't believe that?

A friend had shared a new song with Stacey called “I Raise a Hallelujah” that she posted before surgery. Erin had posted a part of Psalm 34 to encourage her. This morning, Erin was listening to the podcast of Breakaway (A&M bible study) from last night where the worship leader taught everyone a new song - “I Raise a Hallelujah”. And then read Psalm 34. This is Stacey (see Facebook) joining in worship that just filled this ICU room as we listened to the song again.
