Journal

We are back home! Sophia had to stay 9 days in the hospital after having a fever at home until her blood counts recovered. It was a nice and completely uneventful stay. She felt great the whole time,  We played hours and hours of Wii Tennis, Twister, and 1 million board games.  We had a fun New Years Eve party in our room. So thankful! At one point she was having so much fun with the nurses and physical therapists that she asked if we could stay there forever ?!🤷🏼‍♀️ Her age is such a blessing through all of this. She is, however, very happy to sleep “without getting my vital signs taken every 5 minutes “ 😊she is as sassy as ever.

Unfortunately the hardest part of this cycle is supposed to start Thursday. We will check tomorrow to see if her ANC goes up enough to start.  She received a medication today called Palifermin in preparation for the next chemo to prevent mucositis . So they are really hoping we can start Thursday or Friday. If all goes as planned , she will spend one night in the hospital followed by three days of driving back and forth for chemo. Next, a two day break,  and then repeat this 1 more time the following week. I am ready to get this over with!

Would really appreciate your prayers for protection over the next few weeks as this is expected to bottom her counts out again. Please pray with us that the medication is doing it’s job, for minimal side effects, and no mucositis. Please also pray with us for protection against the flu and all the other respiratory viruses going around.

Thanks for your continued prayers. We are counting down the days til Summer, and Maintenance.  (Much less intense chemo), and less time at the hospital, and getting a little bit of normal life back. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel. So thankful for Sophia’s health and determination. We are so thankful for all the amazing people God had put in our path to encourage us, and to bring complete healing to our girl.
