Newest Update

Journal entry by Minda Albright

We made it safely home from Salt Lake yesterday.  So here is the update from the visit at Huntsman.

Dad has no sign of the Multiple Myeloma in his bone marrow as of right now.  His blood is rebuilding as expected and he is no longer quarantined to the house.  He needs to increase his exercise and will start the following treatment to keep his cancer under control.

He will have 3 more breathing treatments of Pentamidine to keep him from getting pneumonia, bronchitis or a cold.  He will continue to go into the clinic once a month for a dose of Zometa which strengthens his bone to prevent them from fracturing.

He will start either the end of this month or starting next month the new maintenance treatments to keep his cancer under control.  That schedule will be 3 weeks on treatment and 1 week off.

He will 1 day a week for 3 weeks - get Valcade (chemo), dexamethasone (steroid) and Revlimid everyday for 21 days a month and 7 days off (Chemo pill).  This is the same treatment Dad was on in the beginning only in lower doses.  This treatment will continue until it is no longer holding his cancer from increasing.  Then he will be put on a new treat of different combination of medications.

Thank you for the thoughts and prayers.
