Newest Update

Journal entry by Shanon Forge

Hey everyone! It’s been a few months since Siena’s last Update. She made it through her intensive occupational therapy and is now halfway through the PT portion. Siena is kicking butt, and has even taken up an interest in kid’s CrossFit. The intensive therapy has gotten overwhelming at times, but the Metcalf’s continue to work hard and push through. Today she had a follow up MRI and it showed continued healing and shrinkage of the damaged area in her brain. The cysts remain and thankfully have not moved or grown since the last MRI. Her neurosurgeon is impressed with what he sees and has ordered for a repeat MRI in September. Siena has an evaluation next month at a pediatric stroke center where she will continue on her path to recovering use of her right hand. The Metcalf’s have also done some research on alternative treatments and will explore those options as well over the next couple months. Siena’s scans were sent to Boston Children’s and they have suggested a more detailed scan of the vessels in her brain to check for any other damage or weakness. This will hopefully take place in the next couple weeks. Please Continue all the prayers and positive thoughts for Siena and her family as they search for the most effective treatment and that the MRIs keep coming back positive 😊
