Journal
Dear Family and Friends,
Thank you so much for your prayers and thoughtfulness towards me and my family yesterday. Speaking of thoughtfulness, it was a great help for Tere to be able to come with me (things seem to go better when she gets to be there).
Here's the update to the update:
Overall, there is a lot of good news. The doctor measured the tumor, and it has shrunk 25% (the average is 10-20%), and he's confident it will shrink another 10-20% in the next 3-6 months. Also, my left eye somehow continues to be 20/20. All so encouraging!
The only sad note is that it's likely my left eye's overall vision will not improve (my peripheral vision won't come back, and the radiation treatment should over the next several years affect my 20/20).
All that said, the goal of the radiation treatment was to save my life, save my eye, and save my vision (in that order). Thus far and with good percentages for the future, my life, my eye, and my overall vision are intact. I am thankful to have all three, and I am thankful for your care and support during this process.
And this last note of gratitude leads me to my last thought: I hope this will be my final CaringBridge post. I will keep the account active (just in case!), but I pray that my cancer recovery steadily continues, and I will not need to rally your support and prayers again.
This has been a humbling ordeal. I have never felt so much sadness and pain, but I also have never felt so loved...
