Shirley’s Story

Site created on January 16, 2016

It was 2+ years ago I had my first surgery. Since finding cancer in my ovaries, I was hospitalized several days (in and out) - I had two colostomies and the last one was removed in May 2017. Due to heavy diarrhea, this kept me in the hospital another 32 days.

Since then, i have been on a tincture of opium 3 times a day and lomotil 3 mil 3 times a day to help. I came home to a hospital bed in our dining room set up beautifully by my wonderful husband, Jack and amazing daughter, Christine.  Our son, David visited several times by himself as well as with his family.  We gave the bed to Salvation Army a couple days before Christmas. We purchased a split mattress and now back in our bedroom.

I am feeling better and better every day. I met with a nutritionist, Ashli. She has been a God sent to both Jack and me.  She has advised us of liquid vitamin B-12 and foods that do not create diarrhea and recipes with high protein.

i am so grateful to my loving family, good friends, physicians, pastors, and a loving God who continues to walk with all of us.
