Journal entry by Shirley Ericson —
It was 2+ years ago I had my first surgery. Since finding cancer in my ovaries, I was hospitalized several days (in and out) - I had two colostomies and the last one was removed in May 2017. Due to heavy diarrhea, this kept me in the hospital another 32 days.
Since then, i have been on a tincture of opium 3 times a day and lomotil 3 mil 3 times a day to help. I came home to a hospital bed in our dining room set up beautifully by my wonderful husband, Jack and amazing daughter, Christine. We gave the bed to Salvation Army a couple days before Christmas. We purchased a split mattress and now back in our bedroom.
I am feeling better and better every day. I met with a nutritionist, Ashli. She has been a God sent to both Jack and me. She has advised us of liquid vitamin B-12 and foods that do not create diarrhea and recipes with high protein.
i am so grateful to my loving family, good friends, physicians, pastors, and a loving God who continues to walk with all of us.
