Journal

It has been a while since our last update, but that is a good thing!  I'm sure you are all eager to know the outcome of the infections mentioned in the last post, but if you follow my mom on Facebook or keep up with her personally, you would know she is doing great, all things considered.  To recap, after a difficult 10 days of intravenous antibiotics, my mom was able to kick the two infections to the curb with a few minor complications.  Day after day, she felt like she was improving and sure enough the antibiotics did their job.  She was able to enjoy Mother's Day after the last round of antibiotics with a sunset dinner on the back patio.  Since our last update, she celebrated her birthday with a surprise get-together with her close family & friends.  Family she hasn't seen in a long time flew in from out of state to be a part of the festivities and made it a very special weekend (see photos attached that show the surprise moments with family that flew in for the weekend).  Many long-time friends made an appearance which rounded out the special evening.  There is now a new cocktail called the "Sherry" that was famous that night - a refreshing vodka cocktail with hints of cranberry & orange paired with bubbly club soda and imaginary *moxie* (this particular ingredient cannot be purchased in stores  😄).  She also finished out the school year with a smile despite all of the difficulties thrown her way this year due to this illness.

After the infections cleared, it was time to start figuring out how to get her back on her cancer medication without taking her immune system to 0.  Once Sherry started the cancer medication regimen back up, the nausea and fatigue returned.  The doctor started her on a slightly lower dosage to ease her back into things this past Friday.  My mom is Goldilocks - trying to get the medication "just right."  Lately, my mom has been feeling great.   Now that school is out for the summer, she has been taking advantage of this long overdue free-time by doing some household projects like cleaning out the garage (leave it to Sherry to work first, play later 😋 )  Don't worry, she has made her way up to the lake, and is planning on spending some fun in the sun with family & friends for an extended period of time!
