Happy Fat Tuesday! We had a great day at rehab doing our first family training and celebrating Roland’s first birthday!

Encompass had originally set a discharge date of March 1st but, after seeing the tremendous progress Sherrie has been making, her team of therapists all recommended extending her stay to maximize her therapies during such a formative time post-stroke. Her new discharge date is March 11th and we are all counting down the days (especially Sherrie)! The additional 11 days will be extremely beneficial to a Sherrie’s long-term recovery. She’s practicing and mastering skills such as getting in and out of a car, going up and down stairs, and walking with little to no assistance (!!!) that will be very useful once she is home.

We are thrilled with the progress she has made so far and so excited to see what else she will accomplish over the next few weeks.

And for those of you wondering about Sherrie’s son-in-law, Josh, he’s home and doing great! Because of the severity of the infection and intensity of the surgery (open appendectomy), he has a wound vacuum over an open incision and will be at home for the next 6-8 weeks as the wound heals. The Rices are so appreciative of all of the support from Sid and Sherrie’s friends and church family.

Prayer requests are:
-Mental/emotional strength for Sherrie as she will remain at rehab longer than originally anticipated
-Even more progress to be made, specifically during physical therapy with walking and stairs
-Wisdom for Sid & daughters in preparing the house for Sherrie’s return
