Journal entry by Jo-Anne Martin

I visited Sherri yesterday and she is stable. She still has a breathing tube in her throat but is able to communicate by mouthing words and writing on paper.  Her skin is smooth and her smile is bright.  Both the cardiologist and the pulmonary doctor feel she is progressing well.

Sherri is experiencing pain in her back thus has not yet been able to sit on the side of the bed or on a chair in her room. We've been stretching her arms and legs to help maintain flexibility.  Yesterday they did a small procedure to allow her to self-medicate pain medicine (I think it was some sort of pump system).

Yesenia and Jeanette have done a terrific job handling the logistics of caring for her cats, moving her car, picking up mail, etc.  One of the library staff offered to pay for cleaning her apartment. We'll start tackling that in small steps (with Sherri's permission for each step).  The hope is this will make her eventual transition home easier.

We expect she'll be moved to Kindred Care in Brea within the next few days.  We'll post once she is transferred.  All your visits and prayers are making such a difference in her recovery. Keep up the support, it helps!!
