Journal entry by Dorcas Martin —
We are excited about Sheri's new hearing aid! She got it yesterday, and we are amazed at how she can hear us! We no longer need to repeat ourselves so often. We didn’t realize that we were repeating until we told her something once, and she responded! She has a BAHA, which stands for bone anchored hearing aid. It is fastened to a headband and sends vibrations to the skull bone, and then her hearing ear can hear things on the other side of her head. We held it to our head, and we can tell a difference in how we hear things with it too. This morning, she is trying to say new words. She said, "Sheri and play. Yesterday afternoon when we came home from the doctor's office, she said, "Daddy, band" and pinted to her headband. She was trying to tell me she wanted to show Daddy. It is so exciting to see her expand her vocabulary like that!
