Happy Sunday!

On Thursday of last week (December 16th) Mom had a double mastectomy with partial reconstruction. The procedure took about 4 hours and the doctors went ahead and dissected the first three lymph nodes, removed the tumor, and and also tested part of her skin for cancerous cells. Everything came back negative, the surgery went excellently, and as far as the doctors are concerned Mom is CANCER FREE! She stayed overnight at Abbott and I took her home Friday afternoon.  She's been recovering with lots of sleep and snacks this weekend and ahead of schedule as far as her healing goes. She'll have some follow up appointments to remove her drain tubes and work with her implants, and she meets with the oncologist again at the end of January. She still gets to look forward to some more chemo and radiation treatments to make sure we have all of the cancer cells gone, but this is such a huge step in the process we're excited to be on the other side!

If anyone would like to come visit, she is up for visitors! Please let Lily or I(Emma) know if you'd like to head over so we can make sure she is up/ready for chatting. However, if you or anyone you've been in recent contact with have had any cold or flu-like symptoms we ask that you avoid heading over to visit.
