Shelly was not just an educator; she was a beacon of inspiration, tirelessly working to mold young minds and instill a love for learning.  She was encouraged by Dr. JoAnne Gatejen, her elementary school principal at Markofer Elementary School.  Dr. Gatejen recognized her potential as a future leader and encouraged her to become an educator herself.  

Shelly dedicated her entire career to serving the Elk Grove Unified School District as a teacher, vice principal, principal, and administrator.  She fostered an inclusive classroom where students were celebrated for their achievements and learning was tailored to each student’s individual needs.  Her commitment to education went beyond the classroom, as she consistently encouraged students to become teachers themselves, just as Dr. Gatejen had done for her.

To make this scholarship a reality, we are seeking donations.  Our initial goal is to achieve a total of $20,000 in contributions.  This will allow us to provide an annual scholarship that ranges from $1000 – $2500.  We hope to annually add to this scholarship fund.  

The scholarship will be awarded to students who:

·         Are pursuing a career in education;

·         Attended school in the Elk Grove Unified School District; and

·         Obtained a GPA of 3.5 or higher

Preference will be given to those with financial need – (Following CalGrant Guidelines)

Note:  The EG Regional Scholarship does not yet accept credit cards or any online digital payment services (Venmo, Zelle, PayPal) for Elk Grove Regional Scholarship.  

VERY IMPORTANT:  Please make sure you receive your Donation Confirmation letter from Elk Grove Scholarship Foundation.  You will be able to verify that your donation is correctly associated with the Shelly Clark Dixon Memorial Scholarship.  This will also be your charitable donation receipt.
