Journal entry by DALE CONDRA —
On December 27 Shelah had her left hip replaced. I had gone with her in 2020 for the appointment with surgeon who did the right hip replacement. He pointedout the poor condition of the left hip at that time. The surgery on the left hip was sucessful and Shelah began to get physical therapy at her apartment at Canterbury Court.
On Tuesday Shelah fell when she attempted to get out of bed without getting assistance. The fall resulted in a broken left femur. Surgury for repair of the broken bone was Wednesday the 3rd. Luckily the break did not involve the prior surgery site. Next step is be discarded to a rehab fascility as she was after her previous fall and wrist injury. If that does not occur tomorrow it would likely mean holding over at Piedmont Atlanta until Monday. No one wants more time in a small hospital room. Shelah is eagar to get to the rehab place and then back to her apartment as soon as possible.
