Sharyn’s Story

Site created on December 28, 2019

I was diagnosed with colorectal cancer on December 10, 2019.  It is considered stage 4 since I also have a large tumor in my liver. I had subtle and few symptoms prior to diagnosis - loss of appetite, fatigue, some bowel changes - nothing to cause great concern, and figured it was just a symptom of getting older. But, I had also put off having a colonoscopy. Lesson learned, colonoscopy is the only way to catch colorectal cancer in the early stages! My prognosis is good though - oncologist has said there is a chance I can beat this completely. I am attacking this cancer with everything I can - I will post updates in my journal about the changes I've made to my lifestyle and treatments I am doing  in addition to the traditional medical approach. Thank you so much for your support.

Journal entry by Sharyn Anhalt

We will be having a memorial for Sharyn on Sunday June 27th from 11am-5ish.  The memorial will be located at the Lindley Park Pavilion (not the Lindley Center) located in the park as you drive south on Cypress St from Main St or off of Buttonwood Ave.  A limited quantity of food, drink and seating will be provided, as well as live music.  We ask that everyone bring themselves and some great memories of Sharyn.  We also ask that everyone adheres to the covid protocols that makes them feel most comfortable.  In the meantime pray that this sunny weather keeps up, we would love to see so many familiar faces again.
