First, a little history about Multiple Myeloma and Sharons journey: Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. Sharon has Multiple Myeloma a blood cancer that inhibits calcium regeneration in bones and thus softer bones and potential for stress fractures. Our daughter Ashley is a nurse and her 11/10/19 discussion about Sharon’s condition is a great summary of her journey with this cancer😇❣️

1/15/21 So SHARON navigated the Stem Cell transplant with flying colors, but still her particular Multiple Myeloma has an aggressive form given a random gene mutation that exists within her. The Stem Cell Transplant occurred on 11/1/19 and now she is looking to enter an experimental T-cell trial funded by the NIH or National Institute of Health Grant at Fred Hutchinson Research Center in Seattle, since symptoms are increasing again. There are a number of various studies going on in this area around the country. If I remember right, T-cells that are extracted and genetically modified and then reinjected are used for certain types of Lymphoma cancers already but not yet approved for multiple myeloma. It looks like, though not guaranteed, that SHARON will qualify and the process begin in January-February 2021 time frame.
