Sharon’s Story

Site created on April 9, 2019

Hello friends and family!

Most of you know that Sharon was diagnosed with lymphoma about two years ago.  Although the lymphoma had been in remission last spring and summer, the cancer returned this past fall.  Sharon  has been doing chemotherapy since January, but the results haven't been great. She is still very itchy, and the rash is still quite severe.

Since Sharon's chemo schedule is 3 weeks on/1 week off, Sharon and Al went to Sanibel Island, Florida from March 26 through April 3 with Sarah's family and Rebecca's family.  It was a great time together.  Sharon really enjoyed the warm weather and sitting on the porch.  We were thankful to be able to make the trip together!

However, on our return from Florida, her rash seemed to get worse, so the doctors at the Mayo Clinic suggested that Sharon be hospitalized for a few days to get the rash calmed down. So Sharon is back in the Methodist Hospital in Rochester.  She does "wet wraps" during the day and night, which really help her skin and the resulting itchiness. We anticipate that she'll be discharged on Friday, April 11.  We'll keep you posted on her progress.

Another event on the horizon is that Sharon and Al will be moving to a retirement community in Plymouth, about 7 minutes from their home.  We will be moving the items/furniture that they need this weekend (April 13-14), and then Sharon and Al will decide when they will make the transition.  Sharon might like a few days home, before they actually move!

Rebecca and Sarah will post occasionally on Sharon's CaringBridge site to give updates.  If you have questions, you can always reach out to us (Sarah: 612-723-2714 and Becky: 612-730-2983).  Sharon and Al are so blessed to have a strong support system of family and friends.

We are strongly trusting in the Lord and in his provision.  We would love for you to join us as we pray for the effectiveness of the chemotherapy/treatment and steady healing, and for peace, strength and joy in the journey.

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." (Romans 15:13)

Thank you for your support, encouragement, and prayers!!!
