Journal entry by Shannon Carlson Gatteri —
Hello! We have been busy over the last week, going to mom’s follow up visits from her hospital stay. We’ve seen the neurologist, he’s feels that she has a disorder called, cerebral amyloid angiopathy. Which is a build up of protein in the blood that gets deposited, only in the cerebral vascular vessels abs breaks down the walls of the vessels causing hemorrhages.
We have seen the hematologist, some of mom’s blood tests have come back positive for some possible autoimmune issues in her blood. Her cardiolipin and Ana came back positive in the hospital and I knew we needed to follow up. I hadn’t learned until today, mom’s lupus anticoagulation came back positive. Doesn’t necessarily mean, mom has lupus, but both explain the blood clots that had developed and they want to change up her anticoagulation therapy. I guess we will give her Lovenox shots for a week and move onto Coumadin. Her bp is climbing again…. I’m praying 🙏🏻 that her dr can get it under control.
Other that that mom’s progressing physically. She’s getting stronger. But her body is throwing the drs for a loop.
