SHARON’s Story

Site created on February 11, 2022

After a trip to Nashville on Nov. 11 to see our kids and then on to Mesa for the winter, with the intention to sell our trailer and rent in the future,  we sold it early January.  In preparation to leave Feb. 1st, I started having trouble breathing Jan. 30th, so to urgent care I went.  Got meds for a bronchial infection (she thought). Traveled home in 2 days, Feb. 1 & 2, unpacked Feb. 3 and on Feb. 4 I couldn't walk across a room without huffing and puffing like the big bad wolf!!!!  So, to the clinic, had an x-ray and on to ER.  Lots of blood work, some sent to Mayo, with speculation of Valley Fever, an infection, or a cancer!!!!!   We were shocked at those guesses.  After a week in the hospital I was told I have cancer in my left lung/bottom wall.  An MRI and pet scan revealed there are spots in my brain, shoulders, left upper back, left hip and a few other spots I don't remember......just remember seeing the yellow hot spots show up on the screen where I've been hurting and getting shots for over the years.   So Stage 4 means chemo and immuntherapy which start Feb. 15th.  My trust is in the Lord to heal me, and if He doesn't I know my eternal home is in heaven.  God's in charge.

OK, you really didn't miss yesterday's post all that much!!!  We attended grandson Trevor's 2nd grade chorus concert at his school and by the time we got out of there I was ready for bed.  It's amazing what some extra walking and talking to other people there tired me out.  I was sooooo cold by the time I got home I put on a sweatshirt and sweatpants and crawled in bed at 9 pm and woke up at 7:30 am.  Two of my good friends stopped in today,  Carrie and Bobbi.  We enjoyed a wonderful hotdish from Dar VE.  I need that recipe to share with others!!!  Had a little chat with my oncologist about an issue, but she didn't think it was serious since I didn't have a fever.....whooopeeee.    Oh, had 2 phone calls from good friends too........Brenda B., school friend,  and Judy S. from Trailridge.   The latter taught me in Sunday School when I was a little kid.  I can still see her standing in my Sunday School room (divided by orange curtains) and the flannel graph of Zaccheus up in the tree!!!  I did a lot of xxxx-stitching today also.  Our Nashville kids called saying they will leaving a week from tomorrow.  Anavie is sooo excited to "take a trip".  I told her she could not say the words, "are we there yet?" 😂  They will take 2 days to travel to SD.

I am feeling "ok" with tiredness and coldness.    Tomorrow will be basketball watching and if there's nothing to report, you won't get a Saturday journal.  No news is good news!!  Oh maybe a drain job.
