Journal entry by Stephanie Agee

Shantel was discharged from the Rehabilitation Hospital Thursday afternoon, partly because she was doing well and partly because her insurance would not pay any further.  She is staying with me for now and continues to slowly improve.  She came home with oxygen to use at night and if she needs it during exercise.  She has a full dressing change every morning and it is still painful for her.  She is quite busy with her intense home physical therapy stretches and exercises.  We have her first follow-up appointment with University of Iowa Burn Clinic on Tuesday.  Hopefully, she will receive good news, but there may be some areas on her graft sites that aren't healing as well as we hoped.  She remains motivated to get better and Jaxton has been a big help to her and keeps her spirits up.  She is still having issues with her voice, but her eye site and hearing are much better.  She is very tired in general and is not feeling up to phone calls or visitors at this time.  We are grateful for all the love and support we have received and wish you all a Healthy and Happy New Year!
