Journal
I was hoping to update after my next appointment with my oncologist, but I guess since I've completed treatment I'm not as important anymore. They keep postponing my appointments!
I completed radiation 7/27. I had very few side effects. My skin was pink towards the end, but it quickly recovered.
I have started a drug called Tamoxifen, they are telling me that I need to take for 5 years. I haven't noticed any extreme side effects from this.
I have asked if I'm "cancer free", but it seems they don't like to say those words. I was told I did all the things, chemo, surgery and radiation to wipe out the cancer cells & lessen the chances of it returning. As far as I'm concerned, there is no evidence of disease, so as of 7/27 I'm cancer free!!
Overall, I am feeling better than I was right before I was diagnosed. I wouldn't be sad if the extra weight I'm lugging around would disappear and if my energy would return. I can't get through a day without a nap! My joints do hurt, especially my feet. Minor things, I know!!
Next step is reconstruction, which is scheduled for February. I'm confident that will be easy peasy compared to what I've already gone through.
As always, thank you to all that has supported me along this journey 💗
