Welcome to Shana's CaringBridge website! We are using this page to keep friends and family updated on Shana's courageous battle against bladder cancer. Here, we will share important milestones, treatment updates, and offer a space to send your love and support. 


Shana's journey began when she went in for a CT scan on May 24th. The scan revealed a suspected malignancy in her bladder measuring 3x4cm, which was not initially thought to be muscle invasive. The following day, on May 25th, she underwent a cystoscopy to see the shape and type of the tumor. Thankfully, they were able to swiftly schedule her for surgery on May 31st to remove the tumor. 


However, the results of the tumor were unexpected and challenging. Shana was diagnosed with invasive, advanced bladder cancer. This diagnosis means that she will require chemotherapy for the next 9 weeks and, in the future, undergo surgery to remove the bladder, uterus, ovaries, and lymph nodes. 


Shana's chemotherapy journey will begin on June 26th with a port placement. Your thoughts and prayers mean the world to Clint and Shana as they navigate these difficult times. Shana's strength and determination, combined with the love and support of her family and friends, and the power of the Holy Spirit will be the driving force behind her fight against bladder cancer.

Long overdue update ahead! We received great news on October 18th! Shana is officially cancer-free after her curative surgery with Dr. Lerner, Praise the Lord!

In other news, Clint had an unexpected heart attack last week and is on the road to recovery from placement of a stint. He will go back in 4-6 weeks to see if he will need to undergo bypass surgery.

Shana had her 6-week post-op checkup yesterday (October 31st) and it went amazingly well! Dr. Lerner gave her a high-five and cleared her to drive. She'll be back to work full-time in just 2 weeks. We are so grateful for the friends and family and even strangers who have prayed, called, texted, made meals, donated, and MORE!  Thank you for being there for us during this unexpected medical journey!
