Selah’s Story

Site created on September 18, 2023

** Tributes received on the Caring Bridge website go straight to Caring Bridge and not to the Alderses**

The Alders Family welcomed our fourth child—Selah Hope—on October 2nd, 2023. Selah was born with a congenital heart defect that required surgical intervention immediately upon birth. She was born at Dell Children's and had her first surgery at 10 days old. Her second heart surgery is on June 24, 2024. This is a story of God's faithfulness, the power of prayer, and the beauty of the Church.

Here, we will share Selah's health updates, prayer requests, and our journey of God's providence and story in her life and ours.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Taylor Alders

Surgery has been scheduled for June 24, 2024 (exactly five weeks from her previous surgery date)! We learned our lesson the first time around with cramming so many events and travel in the six weeks leading up to May 20th. It was a big priority of ours for Selah to see her great-grandparents before surgery and we wouldn't for a second take that time back. However, leading up to this next surgery we will be hunkering down, allowing our sick kiddos to heal, and then keeping them healthy for the next five weeks. We ask for your grace with us as we stick close to home and say "no" to many things. I'm still learning how to do that! We love you guys and covet your prayers for a quick recovery for our two girls who are now fighting colds. Praise God the viral panel caught this when Selah was essentially asymptomatic and we didn't go into surgery with this cough! He knows what he's doing.
