Childhood Cancer Awareness month 🎗ends and all you will see for October is Pink. It’s Nurses Week and I think their profession deserves an entire month of celebration!  The Lightning won the Stanley Cup, the last time this happened was in 2004 when Sean was a year old.   Lance and I will celebrate 23 years of Marriage on Saturday, Oct. 4 - But the most important update of all is about Sean. 

We were admitted to TGH yesterday and completed his last chemo treatment!!!!  Oddly enough, it's a little bittersweet; we are really going to miss the nurses and staff.   I would joke that “Mom” was Bed 1/ Patient 1 and Sean was Patient 2.  We have learned to love these people who have taken such good care of us.  It actually surprises me when I meet other parents and patients who have our doctors and nurses because we have always felt like we are their only patients.  We are blessed.  

We've waited so long to be past this and now, as we move into the next phase, I have time to think about what it might bring.  I'm looking forward to having more time at home, sleeping in our own beds, eating home cooked meals and getting back to more of our old routine.

We head into the next couple of months, with lots of scans, x-rays and blood tests. The port will come out in a few weeks and with it the fear of possible infection goes. 

There is much to be thankful for and to celebrate.  Sean has come through this difficult part of the journey without too many bumps in the road.  It seems as though the way has been made as straight and smooth as it can be: Sean has had only two fevers, no mouth sores, two extra hospital stays,  very little sickness when counts were down, no fractured tibia at onset and best of all, the chemo did it's job and killed the tumor. 

We will be in the hospital until Sunday morning - then - home!
