Journal entry by Allison Ballantine

On Friday, after an epic battle with our insurance company, Scott moved to Moss Rehab in Jenkintown - the same place he recovered after his spine surgery.  He will be there for either one or two weeks, then coming home.  He is working hard at learning how to stand, walk a little bit, manage some daily tasks, transfer to a car, and ideally do all of this without tipping over.  I am working hard at configuring the house with the same goals - learning lots about grab bars and lift chairs (though any specific recommendations on the latter would be extremely welcome, the options are dizzying.) He has a great team at Moss and they are hopeful that, given the new/different understanding of his disease, he may be able to build some skills before he leaves.  On the 17th he and I will go to the Movement Disorders clinic at Penn - to understand a little better where Scott is and what lies ahead.  For almost the first time I can recall though, I am ambivalent about clarity.  We had a lovely dinner as a family tonight, talked about movies and soccer - and that was plenty good enough for me. Tomorrow needs to stay put for now, we will get there soon enough.
